Welcome to the ¬|Durka Durka Land|¬ Community Forums.

I (Durka) made this site for everyone on tron. Half of the site is dedicated to my server (¬|Durka Durka Land¬) and the other half to other things. These include: support (setting up servers, making maps, etc.), requests (graphics, stats, etc.), and just general help. My goal is to make this into a community rather than a help forum.

• Come and sign the guestbook.
• View the server stats.
• Add a link to the links menu.
• Download a new version of Armagetron.
• Put your birthday on the calendar.
• Participate in the polls.
• Stop by for a quick shout at the shoutbox.
• Chat with the people of Armagetron on the IRC Chat (#armagetron on irc.freenode.net).

Another goal is to not limit my server to what I would like. Rather, I want all of you posting your thoughts. I'm up to the idea of different maps. I am willing to let people use my server for tournaments and clan wars. I'm not on my server much, so I might want moderators to control the servers. If you're up for that challenge request so here. As of right now, there are no moderators. So, if you want someone to be banned, just post here with a legit reason. If you are wondering why you are banned post there also.

DDL Forum and Server

I have seen so many posts and comments about the forum being dead and the DDL server dying too.

I have just read Kyles post on the shoutbox which seems so unnecessary and mean.

Durka created this forum and the server for you, the players, show some appreciation and respect. He created a fun and interesting forum that was so popular.
Yes the server and forum are very quiet right now, but this is not down to Durka, it is down to the players and posters that have abandoned DDL.

DDL was more than just a forum and server it had its own community, a community that can still continue if people stopped being so negative.
DDL gave you all a start and a lot of fun, maybe it is time you all gave something back and showed some loyalty to this community.

In-game Authentication

Good news everyone. A simple login/logout cycle sets you for in-game authentication on any server that supports it. Simply /login durkadurkaland.com and at the prompt put in your forums name and password and away you go!

So, I hid 5 easter eggs somewhere on my site. Before you start searching for them, you will need to know this:

Where to find the eggs:

Somewhere on http://durkadurkaland.com ONLY (not on any other website)
They are on pages that you can click to (i.e. not hidden pages that you guys don't know about)
There is at least one link to each page that has an Egg on it (so again, no hidden pages)

Where not to find the eggs:

In any post on the forums

In any private forum (moderator forum, clan forums, etc)

Server Stats + Who's Playing in ¬|DDL|¬

As you may have noticed when you went to http://durkadurkaland.com it redirected you to the server stats page.

As Armagetron Advanced 0.2.8.3 is being developed more and more each day, we get closer and closer to being able to upgrade the server. That being said, there is no point in repairing the (old) broken ladder.

On the server stats page is who's playing, the ladder, and who was the most won rounds and matches. As we all know (of should know) the current ladder system does not, in any way, shape, or form, indicate someone's skill, but it's cool to look at (I guess Wink

).

If you have passed 1st grade math, you will also have realized that the won rounds and won matches don't make sense together. For example, f!thump has 524 won matches, yet only 225 won rounds.

I was thinking of resetting these stats and starting fresh, possibly creating a little challenge out of it.

So, probably starting next Sunday, there will be 2-week-server-stat-challenges.

The top 3 round & match winners will be awarded and acknowledged every 2 weeks. This means that the stats will be reset every 2 weeks for a fresh start.

Another thing that was updated was the "Who's Playing in ¬|DDL|¬?" link. Thanks to Angel Razz

, we are now able to see who's alive (and who's dead (*cough* sour lemon *cough*)) and what ping the players have (*cough* palan00b *cough*). I'm going to move the ping part to the very end so it looks better, but anyways, it's pretty neat.

In other news, I'm thinking of doing a weekly update or something for the forums or server. It will be a post every Monday talking about what's new, what's on the horizon, updates, info, announcements, etc. If you think that's a good idea, please don't hesitate to respond.

Server Browser

Thanks to ct~eddie for helping me setup the new Server Browser! It takes on the same theme as when you click 'Internet Game' in Armagetron Advanced!

I will also be putting a simplified Server Browser at the bottom of the forum index for quick reference as well.

Ongoing Forum Cleanup and Server News

Over the past few days I have been cleaning up this forum to make it easier to find what you need to find.

Still on my to-do-list:

* Basic (for now) server stats
* Server browser (at least a decent one)
* Chatroom (yes? no?)

Again, if you want a clan forum, please don't hesitate to ask, but please do so appropriately.

For the admins of the (active) clans on this forum, don't forget to add the new members to the private usergroup so they can view the members section. If you don't know how to do this, please read this topic.

In other news, I'm thinking of adding a Knowledge Base. I have probably talked about this before, but this is basically what it is:

* A collection of articles/tutorials/FAQ's written by us
* We can refer newer players to the KB for the more common questions (how to double bind, type in color, etc.)
* Tactics for all types of servers

In a sense, it would be like our own little Wiki, but I have to approve the articles. More information to come about this in a little while.

Server related news:

I'm trying to convince Angel that it is ok to upgrade the server to the newest (yet unstable) version of the Armagetron Advanced server. What advantages does this bring?

* Authentication (read in full detail here)
** Your own unique (password protected) name on the ladder
** Access levels for different players (no true "Admins" anymore)
*** 5 different access levels for players:
**** Admin: controls all aspects of the server; can use /admin
**** Moderator: can use limited /admin commands (kick, kill, etc.)
**** Team Leader: (clan/team captains) can setup clanwars without the need of an admin/moderator to be present
**** Team Member: member of a clan/team
**** Authenticated Player: just what it says - a player that is authenticated, but has no real "powers"
**** (And of course there's just the normal player that isn't identified (authenticated)
*** Team Leaders can use special commands such as:
**** /lock (locks his team so no new players can leave)
**** /invite (invites a player that is in spec mode to join their team)
***** by /invite 'ing someone in spec mode, they can also view your /team messages while still in spec mode
**** /unlock (unlocks his team)
*** Moderators can /op normal players to become Team Leaders
*** On the same token, Admins can /op players to become Team Leaders, or even Moderators
*** But, for example, a Moderator cannot /op someone to become a Moderator also

I also suggest you guys head over to the Armagetron Beta Page and download the newest client.

WARNING: IT IS NOT A STABLE RELEASE

Some features include:

* Mates
** Essentially this is a friends list; you can see what servers your 10 favorite friends are in
* Authentication built in
** Although you don't need a new client to use authentication, it is nice to have it built in
* Sub-cultures
** I haven't really figured this out yet...
